Ramon Calderon, Real Madrid’s president, has said that he’s interested in signing Ronaldo, Kaka and Metzelder for next season.
Real Madrid are being their usual selves about the whole thing, not unlike last year when they Calderon brazenly claimed that Kaka, Robben and Fabregas were on their way to Real Madrid.
This time, as always, Madrid have gone through the press, saying that everything depends upon Manchester United’s decision to sell Ronaldo and that Real Madrid would be ‘first in line’ if that were the case.
Its bullshit because Real know that Manchester United don’t plan on selling Ronaldo. Its bullshit because they know that Ronaldo has said that he would like to stay at Manchester United for many years. Its bullshit because Ronaldo and Manchester United are in contract discussions which should see Ronny sign a new 100k / week contract till 2012.
So why are Real Madrid doing this?
Quite simply, they’re being their own arrogant selves, using the media to feed the facade that is the ‘great’ Real Madrid. It’s not working, because despite Jorge Mendes’ and Calderon’s best efforts, Ronaldo and Mourinho have rejected the chance to go to Real Madrid next summer, and Milan are dead-set on blocking all attempts to sign Kaka.
Calderon:
“I would love to see both Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo play for Real Madrid next season, but it won’t be easy. Any big club would have this sort of objective and Real Madrid is a big club.”
They’re not willing to pay 50m though – maybe 40m then? 🙂
Real Madrid are also interested in signing Kaka – who would have probably gone to Real if Milan had been willing to sell him. I don’t see how Real can tempt Kaka again this season, mainly because Real have failed to improve from last season despite the new signings and the new coach.
