While the world waits on Sheva, Salomon Kalou on Feyenoord (the striker who could get Dutch nationality) is poised to move to Chelsea. Chelsea’s interest has been mentioned several times in the media, but this is the first time that the Dutch club has publicly stated that they are in talks with the Premeirship champions.
United fans would be interested in hearing this – Lyon have almost finalised a deal for Kim Kallstrom from Rennes, and with reports of another midfielder coming in, the stage looks set for Diarra to move on. Lyon would love to keep him, as they need his skills to make another assault on the Champions League next season. No word from United still.
Liverpool target Simao of Benfica has had a 20 mil euro (13.5 mil pounds) price tag put on him – Liverpool almost brought him in in January but that failed because of the high transfer fee Benfica were asking. If this is more than just gamesmanship, then the same scenario may repeat itself this summer. Their 3rd place would have encouraged Liverpool though, and they just might splash the cash (assuming they can get a 20-goal striker as well – Defoe / Bent anyone?).
And now for a false rumor – Real Madrid and Barcelona appear to be gunning for Ashley Cole. Surprise? For what it’s worth, I doubt seeing Ashley Cole move away from Arsenal unless it’s to a more successful club like Barcelona or Chelsea. Since the position he plays in will see him being guaranteed a starting place, I doubt he would have any ‘playing’ issues. Madrid continue to be associated with every big transfer while people forget that they are on the decline and unless something spectacular happens next season they will still not win their league. The price tag being quoted is 16 mil pounds, and given that Arsenal would not want to see Cole go their rivals may mean that they could end up selling up abroad.
Also in Chelsea news – Carlton Cole, that forgotten man is about to move to Tottenham for 2 mil. I doubt that the Spurs, for all their money-splashing and positive work in the last two seasons, would take a step backwards – They have Berbatov, Keane and Defoe already. Could this be a prelude to selling Defoe?
