Looking through the latest top scorer charts for the Premiership, I couldn’t help but notice that van Persie and Thierry Henry had 11 and 10 goals respectively for the season.
Considering that both have not played for half of the season, having them around for the whole season could easily yielded 20 goals a piece.
Here’s the chart:
April 17 2007 – Top scorers in the English Premier League on Tuesday:
18 Didier Drogba (Chelsea)
16 Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United)
13 Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Benny McCarthy (Blackburn Rovers)
12 Yakubu Aiyegbeni (Middlesbrough)
11 Darren Bent (Charlton Athletic), Andy Johnson (Everton), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Robin van Persie (Arsenal), Obafemi Martins (Newcastle United), Nicolas Anelka (Bolton Wanderers)
10 Nwankwo Kanu (Portsmouth), Dirk Kuyt (Liverpool), Thierry Henry (Arsenal), Kevin Doyle (Reading), Bobby Zamora (West Ham United)
9 Dimitar Berbatov (Tottenham Hotspur), Mark Viduka (Middlesbrough), Peter Crouch (Liverpool), Brian McBride (Fulham), Emile Heskey (Wigan Athletic)
Note that these are only for the Premiership.
