After 22 years in the NFL, Tom Brady – AKA the Greatest of All Time or, simply, The GOAT, for short – is calling it quits on his legendary career.
The former New England Patriots and now former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback enjoyed an unrivaled career in pro-football, amassing an astonishing SEVEN Super Bowl rings – more than any other player or, to this date, franchise has ever won.
News broke of Brady’s impending retirement just before the AFC Conference Championship Game got underway on Sunday. But, no doubt not wanting to muscle in on the limelight ahead of two huge games in the NFL, Brady opted to wait a few days before confirming the reports earlier today.
In a Tweet released this morning, Brady thanked family, friends, and his wife, Gisele, for their enduring support throughout his incredible career. The full series of Tweets can be read below via the links:

In the world of pro-football, however, there isn’t much time for sentimentality and things tend to move fast. It’s very much a “The King is Dead; Long Live the King!” industry.
(I, myself, have come to know this well in recent years – being that I am a Saints fan!)
Consequently, with tears still drying on Tampa cheeks, and amidst the floods of tributes being paid to a man who is unrivaled when you talk about the most winningest NFL stars of all time, it’s time to set the odds for Tom Brady’s replacement at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Odds For Who Will Be The Next Buccaneers Quarterback
Below are our favorites to replace the GOAT down in Tampa Bay next season:
- Kyle Trask +150
- Jimmy Garoppolo: +150
- Jameis Winston: +250
- Aaron Rodgers: +450
Jimmy Garoppolo to the Bucs: +150
The former backup to Tom Brady at the New England Patriots, Jimmy Garoppolo has enjoyed a mixed career since swapping the east for the west coast and joining the San Francisco 49ers.
On one hand, Garoppolo has appeared in two NFC Conference Championship Games, winning one, and played quarterback at a Super Bowl, where his 49ers would lose out to Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs.
On the other hand, however, blame for both defeats to the Chiefs in the 2020 Super Bowl, and, more recently, the NFC Conference Game vs the Rams last week can be laid firmly at the feet of Garoppolo who just routinely struggles to connect on long passes and all too often comes undone on long -required- game-winning drives.
With San Francisco investing so heavily at last year’s 2021 NFL Draft to get Trey Lance, it’s unlikely they opt to bench their soon-to-be-sophomore QB for another season. So, chances are that Jimmy G’s time on the west coast is up. And the similar weather conditions and beautiful beaches down in Tampa just might be the best place for Garoppolo to reignite his career.
Kyle Trask to replace Brady at Bucs? +150
At last year’s 2021 NFL Draft, former Florida QB, Kyle Trask, was at one point being touted to go as high as the third overall pick.
But, in the end, the likes of Mac Jones, Trey Lance, etc., came off the board early and Trask slipped to the second round – right into Bruce Arians’ lap.
Likened to a more athletic version of the former Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl winning-QB, Nick Foles due to his strong arm, Trask chalked up 4,283 yards passing, 43 TDs, and just eight interceptions during his final year in Florida. He’s also just spent a year in Tampa learning all the offensive schemes and studying under the now-departed GOAT.
The Bucs were lucky Trask was still on the board in the second round last year. So there’s every chance they gave the kid a shot at leading the team under center come 2022-23.
Jameis Winston to return to the Bucs: +250
After replacing Winston with Brady at the start of the 2020-21 Super Bowl-winning campaign, the former Heisman-winning Florida State QB ended up on the roster of NFC-South Division rivals, the New Orleans Saints.
Winston spent practically the entirety of that first season as a backup to Drew Brees, learning the Saints’ playbook and trying to iron out the mistakes that haunted his career with the Buccaneers, most alarmingly the rate of interceptions thrown.
Once Brees called his excellent career quits during the 2021-22 offseason, Saints now-departed coach, Sean Payton, opted for Winston ahead of Taysom Hill and the former Buc reassumed QB1 responsibilities in black and gold.
The Saints went 4-1 with Winston as a starter. The former Buc threw for 1,170-yards, 14 TDs, and just the 3 interceptions in that period. But, Winston’s season was unfortunately cut short after he suffered an ACL tear against the Bucs during that Week-5 win for the Saints.
With 15-year head coach Sean Payton having just left the franchise, New Orleans are in full rebuild mode and will be miles over the salary cap once we get to the offseason.
As such, +200 odds on a much more sensible and precise-looking Winston to return to the Raymond James next season isn’t a bad bet.
Aaron Rodgers to the Bucs: +450
It felt like barely seconds had passed by from when the Packers crashed out in the Divisional Round to the 49ers to when Aaron Rodgers made his now routine post-season appearance to question his entire existence with the franchise.
Whether or not this season’s likely MVP-winner (what about Cooper Kupp!?) decides to call it a day or is allowed to move on is open for questioning. But, if the Bucs were somehow able to lure the Packers’ 4,115-yards, 37 TDs to just 4 picks superstar down to Tampa, they would FOR SURE have themselves a ready-made replacement for Brady.
The best NFL betting sites will no doubt be getting their lines prepared for Brady’s replacement in Tampa as we type, and we will update with the latest betting odds the moment they do.
