Brazilian superstar Neymar has revealed that his contract talks with Barcelona has been going well, and he expects to sign a new multi-million deal within the coming months.

After Barcelona’s thrilling 6-1 win over Celta Vigo, Neymar has told reporters that his contract talks are going smoothly, and he is optimistic of signing a new deal for the Blaugrana within this year.

Neymar’s future at Barcelona came under intense speculation after his contract talks with the Catalan club had reached an impasse over the past few months.

Premier League giants Manchester United saw this as an opportunity to put pressure on Barcelona, and had offered €190m for his signature last summer. Neymar and his father both have revealed that United indeed made a mouth-watering offer for the Brazilian. However, Neymar has rejected all temptations dangled at him, as he wants to play only and only for Barcelona.

However, Manchester United are not the only club who have had registered an interest in Neymar – Manchester City, Real Madrid and PSG, have all shown an interest / presented an offer for the Brazilian. It has been reported that PSG were even willing to offer £500k-per-week to Neymar, should he make the move.

According to Catalan newspaper Sport, Neymar will sign a contract renewal, but the time period is yet unknown – probably at the end of the season.

“My renewal is working well, I’m optimistic”, said Neymar.

Barcelona are in no rush to renew his contract as the club are currently working on a deal where the player will be protected from legal problems. The new contract will include all the necessary legal guarantees for Neymar, and the club is working on a deal that would leave all parties satisfied.

Sport reveal that the new contract will keep Neymar at the club till 2020, and the player’s release clause will jump at €250m, which will make it almost impossible for any big European club to sign him.
