Marouane FellainiManchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini has revealed that he is not using the World Cup as a platform to push a transfer in the summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old was signed by the former Red Devils manager David Moyes from Everton for a fee of £27.5m deal on the deadline day last summer. The midfielder struggled in his debut season at Old Trafford and was considered as one of the worst buys of last season.

Despite his poor form at club level, Fellaini made it to the Belgium national squad for the summer event in Brazil. The former Everton midfielder came on as a substitute to equalise for his side as Belgium came from a goal down to win their opening World Cup fixture 2-1 against Algeria.

The Manchester Evening News reported the Belgium midfielder could be offloaded by the Old Trafford club this summer. Fellaini has admitted that he wants to forget his first season with United, but currently wants to shift his focus on the Belgium national side.

“I am concentrating on my national team. I don’t play here for a transfer. We’ll see with the new coach, but I still feel good at United,” Fellaini said, as reported by Sky Sports.

“Everybody knows my club season was one to forget. I’m the same Marouane. United signed me one year ago. There have been some positives and some negatives, like the bad injury I picked up.”

“Also, our team didn’t quite click into place.  But now we have a new manager, we’ll see what happens next season,” United midfielder added.

The Belgium international went on without scoring a single goal for United last season, but managed to head a crucial goal for his national side against Algeria. With his form for Belgium, it could re-ignite his United career.

The Red Devils faithful would be hoping that Fellaini can shine for United under the guidance of new manager Louis van Gaal next season.
