According to Jason Burt from The Telegraph, Manchester United are interested in signing Brazilian striker, Alexandre Pato from Sao Paulo.

Pato has been linked with a move back to Europe and it is believed that the player is keen to return.

The Brazilian was highly rated during his time at AC Milan. However, injuries and dip in form resulted in him falling out of favour at the Italian club.

Pato moved back to Brazil and plays for Sao Paulo now. The Brazilian has an impressive record of 30 goals in 74 games for his current club and managed to score 63 goals in Europe as well, during his time at Milan.

Manchester United are keen to sign a striker by the end of the window and it appears that Pato might be a stop gap option for the Red Devils.

Due to a dearth of quality strikers in the market this summer, Van Gaal might have to settle for a lesser player in order to add depth to his side.

According to the report from Telegraph, United have held talks with Alexandre Pato and are willing to make an offer of around 10.9 million pounds for the Brazilian.

Pato has been linked with a move to England previously, with Sunderland, Chelsea and Stoke interested in the player.

It will be interesting to see if Van Gaal follows up with the aforementioned offer. There is little doubt that Pato would reject the chance to play for a prestigious club like Manchester United. Especially given the fact that it might be the last opportunity to make his mark at the very top level.
