Manchester United and Chelsea plan photo finish and group hugs

Update: I realise that the first sentence comes on as a bit strong, but in no way do I mean any offense to Dominic Fifield (who wrote the article I link to). Cheers 🙂

Armchair pundits and professional idiots are prematurely ejaculating over the possibility of 3 season-ending finals between Chelsea and Manchester United.

Snarkiness apart, Chelsea and Manchester United are due to meet on 9th May, and after a season-ending game on the 13th, there’s the FA Cup clash at Wembley on 19th May (which United and Chelsea are expected play, as United have Watford and Chelsea have Blackburn in the FA Cup semis) and the Champions League final on the 23rd.

I fully expect both Chelsea and Manchester United to play at Wembley – and I’m guessing it will be more fun and less ‘eventful’ than the League Cup final, what with the FA bending over backwards to milk the new Wembley’s first final for all that its worth. Group hugs? Maybe not…

The Champions League final is a harder nut to crack – Manchester United are not guaranteed to go through to the semis, much less the final, and while there’s a good chance that there will be an Premiership team in the final, it could easily end up to be an Italy vs Spain clash with Roma and Valencia playing the final.

What do you guys think? Will Chelsea win more trophies? Will Manchester United win the treble?

Here’s a look at each club’s run-in (all times are GMT):

More Games

Add the CL semi-final dates (23rd/24th April and 1st/2nd May), the FA Cup final date (19th May) and the CL final date (23rd May), and it is absolute murder for both sides.
