Barcelona have been hotly linked with a move for Ferran Torres who has struggled for game time this season at Manchester City.
While Ferran Torres has reportedly informed Pep Guardiola of his desire to return to Spain, it appears that having his wish granted might not be very easy.
Barcelona are reportedly looking at the young winger as a player who could rejuvenate the frontline. The Blaugrana have also been linked with Raheem Sterling, another City players who’s reportedly disillusioned with life at the Ettihad.
According to Mundo Deportivo, City and Barcelona are already discussing the possibility of allowing Torres to leave the club on loan for the remainder of the campaign with an obligation to buy.
On the face of it, the terms seem favorable for the Spaniards who are in a poor financial state and cannot afford to pay more than 10 million euros for any of their targets in January. However, that is not the case.
According to Marca, the reigning English champions are going to ask for no less than 80 million euros for the Spanish forward. This would prove to be a real obstacle for the residents of Camp Nou who simply don’t have the financial wherewithal to conduct such an operation.
This is why, we’re not really sure whether the club will be able to sign Ferran Torres or Raheem Sterling who is also going to cost in excess of 60 million euros.
Therefore, Xavi is keeping his options open. It is being said that Barcelona have also lined up alternatives with Edinson Cavani one player who seems to be of great interest. The veteran striker has struggled for game time this season and might consider leaving Manchester United.
However, it remains unlikely that the Red Devils will allow the Uruguayan to leave the club this January following the arrival of Ralf Rangnick.
