According to PSG manager, Laurent Blanc, defender Lucas Digne has asked to leave the club.

“First, it is he who very clearly asked to leave,” said Blanc.

“For now, he is with us, he is very professional, he trains very well and has prepared excellently. He has shown the results in friendlies.

“This is firstly a very good thing for him and possibly for us, should he stay with us this season.”

The young full back has been starved of game time since joining the French Champions and is keen to switch clubs this summer. Liverpool are interested in signing the defensive full back and will meet PSG’ £7m asking price once they are offload the likes of Fabio Borini, Rickie Lambert and Jose Enrique.

Although Liverpool signed a talented young full back in Moreno, the former Sevilla man has been suspect defensively. Although Liverpool were a shambolic defensive unit collectively, Moreno is an attacking full back and has struggled when used as a wing back.

Digne is a much more rounded defender who can offer a lot at both ends of the pitch and would improve the Reds and be a much needed upgrade of Jose Enrique.

It is evident that both Liverpool and the player is interested in a move. If Liverpool can offload their fringe players soon, a transfer might very well be on the cards.
