Winless in last six games, three defeats in a row and growing frustrations in the dressing room have put Louis van Gaal’s job into question at Manchester United.

And if the results do not improve in the next two games – against Stoke and Chelsea – Manchester United will be forced to part ways with the Dutchman, writes Mark Ogden.

The results have been disappointing in recent months, but what concerns United hierarchy more is the growing discontent within the playing squad and increasing frustrations among the supporters.

Van Gaal said in the post match press conference that he retains the support of his players but according to reports from the Independent, senior players at the club have grown tired with the Dutchman’s approach.

The club owners showed full support to the manager they appointed to replace David Moyes in 2014, but United’s early elimination from the Champions League, coupled with poor results against lower oppositions have left the Dutchman fighting to save his job.

Carlo Ancelotti is out of question as he will join Bayern Munich next summer, United can either look to appoint Jose Mourinho or Pep Guardiola.

Mourinho has made it clear that he wants to return to management quickly, and the former Chelsea manager is the best option United have at the moment, should they sack Van Gaal within next month.

Guardiola on the other hand will be available for hire next summer but United are certain face tremendous competition for his signature as both Chelsea and Manchester City are keen to sign the Spaniard.
