Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has admitted that losing the Premier League title to Manchester City on the final day of the season still hurts.

The Reds were in a firm position to lift their first Premier League title, only for them to lose it to the Citizens by two points. A defeat to Chelsea at home and a draw against Crystal Palace, where they were leading 3-0 for the most part of the game saw them give lose grip on the top spot in the table.

The England international claims the Reds are looking to move on from last season’s disappointed as Sturridge is reluctant to help Brendan Rodgers’ side to challenge for the title during the 2014-15 season.

“We missed out on winning the league last season which is kind of hurtful, but we are moving on now and we are looking forward to next season,” Sturridge was quoted as saying by Liverpool’s official website.

“We are looking forward to a big year, it is going to be a big season and we can’t wait to go on as it is going to be amazing.”

“It is a great feeling; it is a lot of people’s dream to be playing for a club like Liverpool, and so I am living my dream and I am thankful for everything that has come my way.”

“I am looking forward to the future, as I said before, it is going to be a big deal for me and I am really excited,” the striker said.

Liverpool lost their star striker Luis Suarez after the Uruguayan international agreed to join Barcelona in the summer transfer window. The 27-year-old was the Premier League’s top scorer with 31 goals last season.

His departure has left a greater void at Anfield and Rodgers needs to act quickly in bringing a replacement for the former Ajax man. Should they fail to add a world class player to their squad, Liverpool could struggle to challenge for the title in the upcoming campaign.
