At half-time, I have to admit that I was laughing at Tottenham and cheering West Ham on. Don’t get me wrong – I like both teams, but something about West Ham’s current plight, Tottenham’s pre-season claims to a top-6 berth and my desire to support the underdog meant that I was quite happy with the 2-0 lead, especially as it came thanks to Carlos Tevez, a quality player and one that I really admire.
But Tottenham won by sheer will, as much as West Ham lost because they were pathetic in defence.
Berbatov’s cross, Lennon’s ridiculously good flick and Tainio’s equally valuable shot (how many times have we seen them get fluffed) that went in for 2-2.
Berbatov’s free kick that went in off Konchesky’s head for 3-3 – a goal that demoralised West Ham completely and allowed Tottenham to sneak in a 4th goal before the final whistle.
Tottenham moved back up to 9th place but have little time left if they want to qualify for Europe through the league. West Ham are dead, officially, and Tevez will leave – he should have in January.
