Arsenal suffer huge injury blow after Arsene Wenger confirms that central defender Laurent Koscielny has been ruled out for at least four weeks, and the France international is likely to miss crucial games against Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund.

Since the start of the season, Koscielny has been suffering from the tendinitis problem in both heels but he managed it somehow to play with pain till October. Later he was diagnosed with an acute tendinitis. Although he won’t need a surgery, but remains under intended cure.

“You cannot think that he will be available in two weeks’ time,” said Wenger as quoted by The Telegraph

“Then you have to see how he responds. He will not be available for three or four weeks. Inflammation you can never predict. He could not go on so we had no choice.”

New summer signing Mathieu Debuchy is also out injured and the Frenchman won’t make a return until Christmas. It leaves Wenger with short of defenders and the Gunners must persist with Nacho Monreal as a make-shift central defender alongside Per Mertesacker.

Arsenal will also miss Mikel Arteta for tomorrow’s game against Swansea City, with the skipper been ruled out with the “minor” hamstring strain he suffered against Anderlecht.
