Plenty of juicy transfer rumours today; most of them are already covered here on Soccerlens so I’ve just give you a quick walkthrough and point you in the right direction for each rumour (and it’s discussion).
News coming out of Spain that Tottenham have made a ‘serious offer’ to Villarreal for Riquelme. I think it’s a play by Riquelme’s agent to get other clubs to bid for him – there’s already noise over at the Newcastle United site where someone in the comments has asked if Newcastle should go for Riquelme. I’d think that Riquelme’s agent is aiming for another Spanish club.

Manchester United after Berbatov?
Another silly rumour involving Manchester United, this time it has to do with Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov. Let’s just say that it’s bogus and that the stories about Berbatov being ‘unsettled’ by a large Manchester United bid or by an argument over Jol’s rotation policy are largely over-exaggerated.

Manchester United after Martins?
With the Anelka rumour dying down, the rumour mill now moves to the next striker on their list, Newcastle United’s Obafemi Martins. The mere mention of Manchester United’s need, Newcastle United’s relative inferiority in the transfer stakes and the fact that Martins has a buy-out clause in his Newcastle United contract is enough to get tongues wagging.
What’s worse, some Newcastle United fans are resigned to the fact that they could very well lose Martins if Manchester United come knocking. No faith in your players, eh?
I doubt this will happen either – because United are not buying, and Newcastle are not going to sell no matter what happens.

Heinze loses case to move to Liverpool, will he stay at Manchester United?
With Gabriel Heinze losing his bid to make a move to Liverpool, his future is now wide open and with only 10 days left, anything that’s going to be done has to be done really fast.
I personally think that Heinze will buckle down and stay at United, although he could still buy out his contract and head over to Liverpool. Something tells me though that after today he’s probably not going to go that far, and he will nevertheless have a new contract offer waiting for him at Old Trafford (hopefully).
If he does leave, I don’t see him going to France either – most likely La Liga, if they’ll take him at such short notice, that is.

That’s it for right now – will hopefully have more for you tomorrow.
