Kevin De Bruyne’s loan move to Anderlecht impossible reports Belgium press

Only yesterday, we posted the news that Chelsea midfielder Kevin De Bruyne could move to Belgium club Anderlecht in the January transfer window, to bolster his chances of playing in the World Cup.

Actually it was a one-sided interest and there was nothing from either the player’s end or from Chelsea. Anderlecht have lost their talisman forward Matias Suarez through injury and are looking for a potential talented replacement. Club manager Herman Van Holsbeeck was looking to at the possibility to lure Kevin De Bruyne from Chelsea on loan.

The Belgian star has found difficultly in breaking into the first team under Jose Mourinho. With World Cup approaching, surely he would want more first team opportunities to impress his national team manager, which at the moment is not happening. He said to Het Laatste Nieuws:

“Kevin could come to Anderlecht in January – there’s a big chance. It’s not an easy deal, but it is something we are investigating. The World Cup being next year makes this possible – he wants regular football so he makes the competition.”

However Belgian newspaper Sportwereld reports that such move cannot take place because of De Bruyne’s contractual restrictions. When he was sold to Chelsea from Genk, a clause was inserted in his contract that says he cannot join any Belgium club on loan. Although, Germany could be a possible destination, should he chose to leave to get regular first team football.
