cesc-fabregas-barcelona-fcJose Mourinho has revealed Chelsea are interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas in the summer transfer window (see all confirmed Premier League transfers so far).

Earlier Soccerlens reported the Blues have agreed a £30m deal in bringing the former Arsenal skipper to Stamford Bridge after the Catalan outfit made up their mind to allow the Spanish midfielder leave the club.

However, the former Real Madrid boss still remains unclear whether Fabregas will join Chelsea or their league rivals Manchester United this summer.

“I’m interested to look at his situation. I think he is eager to leave Barcelona and very motivated by the idea of returning to England. I think that is pretty clear,” Mourinho said.

“After that, whether he signs for us or someone else is not a question for today, tomorrow or before the World Cup. We are interested to see how the situation evolves,” Chelsea boss added.

Meanwhile, Fabregas’ club and Spain teammate Gerard Pique whispered to the national team manager Vicente del Bosque that the 27-year-old midfielder has informed him that he is leaving Barcelona.

“[Cesc Fabregas] told me [the deal] is done. He’s already leaving, he told me that it is €33million,” Pique whispered.

Del Bosque replies by saying: “Poor president (in reference to Club President Josep Maria Bartomeu). He can’t win for losing.”

Should Chelsea manage to beat United in signing the former Gunners midfielder, it will be a massive boost for the Blues as they are looking to sign a replacement for their legend Frank Lampard.

The England international was allowed to leave the club on a free transfer. Fabregas could be the long-term replacement for Lampard in Chelsea squad, if he decided to make a switch to Stamford Bridge.
