Jon Flanagan is looking forward to playing for Rangers next season under former team-mate Steven Gerrard.

He also believes that the Gers are every bit as big as Liverpool.

Flanagan arrives at the Gers after being released by the Reds. He spent last season on loan with Championship club Bolton Wanderers and after failing to impress, the club has decided to let him go.

This was perhaps best for both club and player and he can now aim to rebuild his career.

During 8-years with the Reds first-team, the 25-year-old only went on to make 40 first team appearances for the club.

He was however a first-team regular during the 2013-14 season during which Liverpool narrowly missed out on the Premier League title.

He is still young and is exactly the type of player that Rangers need as they look to challenge for silverware domestically next season.

Even though Rangers have not been successful during recent years as Celtic have dominated Scottish football, Flanagan believes that they are as big as Liverpool.

He said: “I always watched Scottish football on Sky. I was always aware of it and it is a massive league and one that we, as Rangers, are going to try and push on to get the title. We all know Liverpool is a massive club but Rangers are just as big.

“The pressure is as massive at both clubs. I have dealt with that at Liverpool and I’m more than willing to deal with it here at Rangers. I just want to get going and show all the fans what I am about.”
