John Stones flees home as angry fans react to his Chelsea transfer request

Everton centre back John Stones is looking to restructure the terms of his contract in order to ease a move to Chelsea next summer.

The Premier League Champions were determined to land the England defender this summer, but Everton held firm. The Toffees rejected four improved offers from Chelsea and claimed that Stones is not for sale at any price.

Chelsea have had a poor start to the season and Mourinho was keen to fix his defense with the signing of Stones and Baba Rahman. Despite landing the Augsburg full back, Mourinho had to concede defeat in case of Stones.

Everton manager, Roberto Martinez and chairman, Jon Woods, made it clear that the player will not be sold this season.

According to latest reports, John Stones is now willing to sign a long term contract at Everton. However, the player has asked for a release clause to be inserted into his new contract.

The player has asked for a 38 million pound release clause in order to facilitate his Chelsea transfer in future. Chelsea have already bid close to that figure this summer, only to be rejected time and again.

Stones is keen to ensure that the same does not happen next summer and in order to ensure a smooth transfer saga, the player wants an iron-cast escape clause.

Everton are keen to tie him down to a long term contract and it will be interesting to see if they can convince him to sign the deal without the escape clause.
