The delayed 2020 European Championships is the standout event in football this summer and will provide fans with a host of betting opportunities.
Euro 2020 kicks off on Friday, June 11, 2021, and concludes with the final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, July 11, 2021.
We assess which teams will finish top of their groups, predict who we think will win Euro 2020 and offer a suggestion for who will be the tournament’s top goalscorer.
Euro 2020 Group Stage
Group A: Turkey, Italy, Wales, Switzerland.
Italy are 4/7 favourites to win Group A, and they are a good bet to get the job done.
They looked much-improved during qualification, winning all 10 games and conceding just four goals.
Turkey and Switzerland should fight out second place, with the former expected to win that battle.
Group B: Denmark, Finland, Belgium, Russia.
Belgium can be backed at 8/11 to claim top spot, and that looks exceptional value for a team who could go all the way this summer.
They were more impressive than Italy during qualifying, smashing 40 goals on their way to a 100 percent record.
Predicting who will finish second is no easy task, but Denmark are narrowly fancied to pip Russia.
Group C: Netherlands, Ukraine, Austria, North Macedonia.
The odds suggest this should be a one-horse race, with Netherlands priced at 2/5 to top Group C.
However, their recent 2-2 draw with Scotland highlighted some of their deficiencies.
Ukraine and Austria could prove troublesome, and this group is best left alone for betting purposes.
Group D: England, Croatia, Scotland, Czech Republic.
The bookmakers have taken no chances with England, installing them as 2/5 favourites to win Group D.
Their squad should be capable of claiming top spot, although it would be foolish to write off any other teams.
Czech Republic could be worth an interest at Evens to secure a place in the knockout stage.
Group E: Spain, Sweden, Poland, Slovakia.
Spain are priced at 1/3 to win Group E, and it is impossible to back against them.
Luis Enrique has a talented squad at his disposal, and they should sweep into the last 16 with ease.
Sweden and Poland will contest second place, and Robert Lewandowski’s presence for the latter tips the scales in their favour.
Group F: Portugal, France, Germany, Hungary.
Portugal, France and Germany should all progress to the next phase, although who will win Group F is less clear.
Germany are 5/4 favourites to claim top spot, but their patchy form doesn’t inspire much confidence.
France look a decent bet at odds of 11/8 and are fancied to finish ahead of Portugal and Germany.
Euro 2020 Outright Betting
France are the favourites to win Euro 2020, with England and Belgium next in the betting. Here are the latest odds:
Czech Republic 150/1
North Macedonia 500/1
France are worthy favourites to win the tournament, but their current odds are skinny given the strength of the competition.
Many punters will be keen to back England, although they also look far too short in the betting in light of their previous record at major tournaments.
Belgium will be a popular pick, with their talented starting XI capable of ripping teams to pieces if they produce their best form.
Germany, Spain and Portugal also shouldn’t be underestimated, while Netherlands may tempt bettors looking for each-way value.
However, Italy appeal as the value bet at odds of 11/1 to end their 15-year wait to win a major international tournament.
Manager Roberto Mancini has built an impressive team that features a nice blend of youth and experience.
Italy don’t possess any major superstars, but their squad is undoubtedly stronger than the sum of its parts.
Euro 2020 Top Goalscorer
There are some big names in the running to be the top goalscorer at Euro 2020. Here are the top five in the betting:
Harry Kane 11/2
Romelu Lukaku 7/1
Kylian Mbappe 8/1
Cristiano Ronaldo 12/1
Karim Benzema 16/1
The value bet in this market is Lukaku, with the Belgian striker facing some fairly easy games during the group stage.
Kane topped the scoring at the 2018 World Cup, but England’s defensive nature may limit the number of chances the team creates.
Mbappe could be Lukaku’s biggest threat, particularly if France can secure a favourable route in the knockout phase.
Euro 2020 Predictions
Italy, Belgium and Spain are strongly fancied to win their respective groups and deliver the goods at odds of just over 5/2 for the treble.
Plenty of teams have a genuine chance of winning Euro 2020, but Italy are overpriced at 11/1 to lift the trophy.
Lukaku and Mbappe are expected to be in the running to be top goalscorer, with the Belgian striker looking good value at 7/1 to come out on top.
