Do Spurs really need Zigic?

According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are considering a January bid for Valencia striker Nikola Zigic.

The Spanish club apparently wants to unload the 6’8″ Serbian international to ease their financial woes, and club sporting director Fernando Gomez has reportedly already sounded out Spurs about the possible move.

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has been rumoured to be considering shuffling his striking options after Christmas with Russian forward Roman Pavlyuchenko, seemingly desperate to leave White Hart Lane, being linked with a clutch of clubs.

Redknapp will have to sell before he can buy, though, and Robbie Keane has also been linked with a move to Celtic.

Spurs are also reportedly weighing up a bid for Ivory Coast striker Seydou Doumbia of Young Boys of Berne.

There is no indication yet as to the likely fee Zigic would command. It’s also unlikely that Spurs would need yet another tall striker with Crouch filling the target man role quite well for Spurs.
