Chelsea are close to agreeing on a deal with Levante for Ghanaian winger Christian Atsu.

The Premier League champions recalled Christian Atsu this January after a failed loan spell at Bournemouth.

The highly rated 23-year-old winger was loaned out to Eddie Howe’s side in the summer, but Atsu failed to impress at his new club.

The Ghanaian made just two appearances for the Cherries since joining them, and Chelsea were forced to end his loan spell due to the lack of match action.

Earlier this week, reports in Spain claimed that the young winger is in talks with Spanish outfit Levante and a deal is expected to be finalised this month.

It is understood that there have been developments since then and Marca reported yesterday that Atsu has already agreed personal terms with the Spanish club and they are waiting for Chelsea’s blessing before they can complete the formalities.

Levante are confident that the winger can help them avoid relegation in La Liga this season and are willing to do a deal for the highly talented African star.

Atsu was a Golden Shoe Award winner at the AFCON 2015 and is looking to play regular first team football. It is evident that he is not in Hiddink’s plans for this season and a move away from Chelsea is best for all parties involved.
