Chelsea ready to offer £30m for Kalidou Koulibaly

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is looking to sign a defender this summer and the Napoli centre back Kalidou Koulibaly is a target for the Blues.

The highly rated defender has been a target for Manchester United as well. The Old Trafford outfit even submitted a bid for him earlier this year.

However, Napoli will not negotiate for an offer of less than 30 million Euros and therefore Manchester United’s 20 million Euros offer was rejected.

According to latest reports, Chelsea are desperate to sign him and Roman Abramovich has asked his staff to secure the transfer even if they have to pay a premium of around 40 million Euros. Koulibaly is apparently on top of Chelsea’s transfer wishlist right now.

Chelsea desperately need a centre back with John Terry in his twilight years and the inconsistency of Cahill and Ivanovic. Kurt Zouma remains the only reliable defender at the club, but it will be interesting to see how he performs post recovery from a horrible injury.

The report also adds that Chelsea are still keen on signing their long term targets Nainggolan and Morata.
