Chelsea over the past few years have developed a good scouting network in Brazil. Already three Brazilian international play for the senior team at Chelsea – Oscar, Willian and Ramires. Early in May the club had confirmed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Nathan Allan de Souza. And there could be few more additions as well.
Last week, Brazilian media reported that Fluminense had sanctioned the departure of their young forward Robert Kenedy, who is heading towards the Premier League and his likely destination is Chelsea.
According to Tuttosport, Chelsea have started initial negotiation with the Fliminense’s highly rated attacking midfielder Gerson.
Juventus have already made an offer for the 18-year-old midfielder. Barcelona have the preferential option to buy but Juventus are trying to take an advantage of their transfer embargo with a €17m offer to Fluminense, plus €3m from a future sale.
Tuttosport suggest that a host of Premier League clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool are seemingly interested in the young attacking midfielder. However, Chelsea might face a strong competition from Manchester United in the race to sign the Brazilian. The Old Trafford club have also made contact with the Brazilian club, though no offer has been made yet.
It seems like the interest from Juventus is genuine. The Bianconeri are not looking for a typical loan-with-option-to-buy type signing here, rather they are ready to spend big for the teenager.
