Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is prepared to sell some of the under-performing players from the squad in the January transfer window. The Blues manager is looking to free up spaces from the squad in order to land at least 3-4 quality players in the winter transfer window. The Mail reports:

“Jose Mourinho is ready to get ruthless with his misfiring squad if they fail to improve performances and results.

Unless certain attitudes change and performances improve over the next few games, he is willing to begin re-shaping his squad and will look at January sales.”

Kevin De Bruyne: The Belgium international has managed only 3 league appearances this season and is looking for a move elsewhere to get regular games under his belt. Although Mourinho wasn’t keen to let him go, but it seems likely that De Bruyne will leave the club in January, on loan or may be permanently, with Germany his possible destination.

Demba Ba: It is becoming day light clear that Chelsea will try to land at least one world class striker, sooner or later and that means some of the existing players could be shown the door. Ba has expressed his desire to get more game time and his wish could be granted… but not at Chelsea.

Ashley Cole: The England left-back has lost his place to Cesar Azpilicueta recently, albeit it is not a long term solution so Mourinho is planning a move for Southampton’s Luke Shaw or Alberto Moreno of Sevilla.

John Obi Mikel: The 26-year-old has only made 5 league starts this season for the Blues. Mikel is a reliable player, whose holding midfield job is highly effective against big teams, but Mourinho is not too impressed with the Nigerian, rather the Portuguese is looking for options elsewhere with Nemanja Matic is a possible target.
