Laurent Blanc and PSG clinched a thrilling win at Stamford Bridge thanks to late goals from David Luiz and Thiago Silva.

Jose Mourinho’ Chelsea started the night with a slim advantage of an away goal, but the Blues failed to get any hold of the game as the visitors produced an inspiring display over the course of 120 minutes.

PSG were dealt a damaging blow midway through the first half when Zlatan Ibrahimovic was given his marching orders, a decision that looked like a game changer back then. The Sweden international was wrongly sent off for his challenge on Oscar.

Despite being down to ten men, the French outfit looked like the side in control as they pressed for an away goal. Edinson Cavani had the best chance of the game when he managed to get around Courtois only to hit the post with his left foot, with an open goal staring at him.

The red card wasn’t the only debatable decision of the game as Costa was denied a stonewall penalty.

However, the home side took the lead 10 minutes from time when Gary Cahill smashed a wonderful volley past Sirigu. Chelsea’s joy was cut short as former blue, David Luiz equalised 3 minutes from time, with an outstanding header from a corner.

Thiago Silva’s rash challenge in the box seemed to have sent Mourinho’s men into the Quarter finals as Hazard scored an all important penalty in extra time.

However, in an astonishing turn of events, Thiago Silva landed a knockout punch late into extra time as the Brazilian scored an unstoppable header past Courtois.

The draw sees Chelsea crash out of the Champions League on away goals, leaving question marks over the desire and commitment of the home side and Mourinho, who did little to change the game in favour of the Blues.
