The Football Association confirmed today that Chelsea midfielder, Cesc Fabregas will just miss one game with suspension and will be available to start the first game of next season.

The former Arsenal captain was banned for three games, following a violent conduct during Chelsea’ 3-0 loss to West Brom.

Fabregas kicked the ball into Chris Brunt’ head from 20 yards out and was immediately sent off by the referee.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho stated that the ban was harsh and excessive. Despite agreeing that Fabregas’ conduct was not acceptable, Mourinho stated that a normal red card suspension would be more fitting.

Later, the Champions appealed against the ban, which has now been overturned in favour of the Spaniard.

A statement from the Football Association read: “A claim by Chelsea that the three-match suspension for Cesc Fabregas is excessive has been upheld by an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing.”

Following the decision after Chelsea’ appeal, The FA released the following statement.

‘A claim by Chelsea that the three-match suspension for Cesc Fabregas is excessive has been upheld by an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing.

Fabregas was dismissed for violent conduct during the West Bromwich Albion FC v Chelsea FC fixture on 18 May.

‘The Regulatory Commission has reduced the Chelsea midfielder’s suspension to one match, to be served with immediate effect.’

Fabregas has enjoyed a spectacular debut season with the Blues and has won the Premier League and the Capital One Cup. The Spanish midfielder has been in excellent form throughout and was one of the key figures in Chelsea’ title win.

Fabregas has filled the creative void at Chelsea and formed a formidable partnership alongside Nemanja Matic. Furthermore, the former Arsenal striker also helped Diego Costa settle into the club as their telepathic understanding made life easier for the former Atletico Madrid striker.

Fabregas scored 5 times this season and has assisted a remarkable 21 goals for Chelsea.
