Blue Moon Rising – Review

There been many films surrounding football but none like Blue Moon Rising.

The docu-film, created by Endemol, follows a group of true blue Manchester City supporters who follow the blues home and away in a battered old Renault Espace named Helios during the 2009/10 season. The season marked the first full year of ADUG in charge at Eastlands, which started with Mark Hughes as manager but ended with Roberto Mancini in the hot seat.

Along with frank interviews from City executives and players, the film also includes input from Oasis star Noel Gallagher and shows dramatic reconstructions of supporters who tell us where they were during key moments in the clubs history, such as the 1981 FA Cup final and the incredible 1999 Play-off final against Gillingham.

With footage from games such as the 2-1 home win over Chelsea and the Carling Cup semi-final, and exclusive dressing room footage, Blue Moon Rising captures the very essence of the passion City supporters have for the blues and is a must for any football supporters who are equally as passionate about their club.
