FUTEBOL - Enzo Perez

Manchester United have been linked with Benfica midfielder even before the World Cup in Brazil. The Argentine whose future has been speculated for quite some time now has a €30m release clause. Spanish side Valencia also tried to sign Perez in the summer but the player stayed put in the Portuguese club somehow.

However, yesterday’s reports from the trusted and reliable TMW website in Italy, it is now believed that Valencia have agreed terms with Benfica to sign the 28 year old. The report claims that Perez is virtually a Valencia player now that negotiations are complete.

It would be a huge blow to United who were also in the race to sign the player. Perez is exactly the type of player who would have suited easily in Louis Van Gaal’s system. He immense work ethic, off the ball work and tracking back the defense and joining attacks are a key hallmark of his all round game.

Inside Futbol however have quoted Perez saying to Argentina media outlet Canal Siete, he said: “Of course I would go there [to Valencia]. It’s a very important club in Europe. I have a contract with Benfica which runs until 2018. If Benfica and Valencia reach an agreement, I will terminate it in order to sign the new contract.”
