Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger claimed yesterday that the Gunners are not close to signing anyone in the January transfer window while branded the winter transfer window as a low key transfer market.

However, the Gunners are actively looking to buy a striker in January, if the reports are to be believed. They have been linked with Alvaro Morata, Julian Draxler and Sebastian Giovinco, while are also targeting Juventus striker Mirko Vucinic.

Yesterday, we reported that the Gunners held a meeting with Juventus officials over a possible loan deal for Vucinic.

The 30-year-old has dropped down the pecking orders at the club behind Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente and has made only four league starts this season, bagging two goals.

Arsenal may need a striker, following the injury to Theo Walcott, who will not only miss the rest of the season with injury but could miss the World Cup trip to Brazil as well. Although Wenger says that his squad is well covered, but a cover for lone striker Olivier Giroud is essential, as Nicklas Bendtner is also absent with injury problems.

Vucinic would be more than willing to jump the ship as he would be looking to get regular games under his belt. However, Juventus are not willing to sell him on loan, and rather they want €12m for the Montenegro striker to conclude a permanent deal.

Should Arsenal go for Vucinic in the January transfer window?
