A small tidbit in The Guardian’s Wednesday rumor mill could ruffle a few feathers, as it links Arsenal star Robin Van Persie with a reunion with Mathieu Flamini at AC Milan.
Van Persie was briefly in the transfer rumors in the summer when he voiced his frustrations about Arsenal’s wage structure hurting their ability to bring in and keep big names. He was linked with Inter Milan and Juventus, but neither of those rumors produced anything concrete.
The Dutch international does have 18 months left on his current contract, but he’s set to sign a new one that will more than double his current salary and tie him to the club for the next several seasons.
Not only does this little tidbit come when he’s about to sign a new deal, but the oft-injured Van Persie has been healthy and in top form thus far this season, scoring seven goals in 11 starts. Besides, while AC Milan could offer a nice salary, and playing alongside the likes of Ronaldinho and Kaka would be an honor, he has a great situation at Arsenal right now. When you’re playing well, healthy, and about to be quite wealthy, you should be pretty content.
Do you think that’s there any chance Van Persie could leave for AC Milan? How well would he fit in with the likes of Ronaldinho and Kaka?
