8 Questions You Can’t Ask At The Beijing Olympics

If you’re traveling to the Olympics next month, rest assured that the Chinese government is doing everything in its power to protect your right to privacy.

Their latest measure to protect your rights is a list of ‘8 Don’t Asks’ – presented as a guide for locals about how to show proper hospitality (one assumes that they don’t teach this in school…).

Posters around Beijing (where do I get one of these?) advise:

“Don’t ask about income or expenses, don’t ask about age, don’t ask about love life or marriage, don’t ask about health, don’t ask about someone’s home or address, don’t ask about personal experience, don’t ask about religious beliefs or political views, don’t ask what someone does.”

So, travelers, if a pretty Chinese girl walks up to you and says “take me back to your hotel room”, it’s her government cutting down on the verbal foreplay.

Count me in.
