Arsenal fans must be buzzing at the moment with reports flying around in the media that the Gunners are closing in on securing deals for two quality players, Alexis Sanchez and Mathieu Debuchy, from Barcelona and Newcastle United respectively.

Mikel Arteta

Last week, Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport reported that Serie A giants Fiorentina are looking at the possibility of signing Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini. The Belgium international didn’t enjoy a good campaign with United in his first season and speculations are rife that he could be sold in the summer.

In that same article, CDS mention that Fiorentina are also looking at the possibility of signing Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta.

Now, TMW in one of their Exclusives today, reports that Arteta is “really close” to joining the Viola in the summer and featured an interview of Italian footballer Lorenzo Amoruso, who spoke about how Arteta might fit into the system at Fiorentina.

The 32-year-old has a contract till 2015 and Arsenal could sell him between €6-8m. Amoruso says that Arteta should not face any problems in adjusting to the pace of the Italian league, while feels the Spaniard could be an influential figure in the dressing room.

All these clamours are mainly coming from the Italian press and there is hardly any exit rumours about him in English newspapers. Arsene Wenger will be willing to keep him for one more year at least, but should Arsenal get a good offer now, they might consider selling him as well.

What you think? Should Arsenal keep Arteta or should they sell him, if they are presented with a good offer?
