Borussia Dortmund forward Marco Reus is set to sign a new contract extension at the club as reported by German newspaper Ruhr Nachrichten.
The newspaper claim that Dortmund are preparing a contract extension that will keep him at the club till 2017.
The current contract allows the 25-year-old leave the club in summer for only £25m (relatively less value compared to mega transfers these days) and quite naturally has been linked with almost all the heavy weight European clubs.
Reus has been linked with Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich from time to time.
After having discussions between consulting agency “Sports Total” and BVB directors Michael Zorc and CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke, it is understood that the club has has made a significant progress.
“We have put all the cards on the table, the ball is now Marco’s court,” says Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke.

We have seen in the past that contract extensions hardly mean anything these days. Dortmund want to keep Reus, similar to the way Tottenham wanted to keep Bale.
In the end Spurs sold him for a record transfer fee. That’s how football market works. Dortmund has made it clear that “they have a limit” which means unlike Manchester United or Real Madrid they will not break their wage system to make him happy.
What will Reus gain from it? Simple: High wage.
He will remain patient for a while knowing that in the summer big clubs will try for him again. If the opportunity arise, he will jump the ship, if not, he still will remain at a top club earning a high salary.
