And there is a high chance that Manchester United could sign the Welsh winger next season.
Both Ronaldo and Bale have investigated moves away from the Bernabeu, and as per ESPN, Real Madrid are likely to sell one of them.
Ronaldo recently has hinted at the idea of returning to Old Trafford during a talk show interview. French champions Paris Saint-Germain have equally registered a strong interest in him, and a big-money-move to the French capital club cannot be ruled out completely. To be honest, a move to PSG is the likelier outcome given his age and price.
ESPN understands that United have shifted their attention from Ronaldo to Bale, who could cost around £90m, and have received “significant encouragement” that a signing could be possible.
Bale’s agent has repeatedly played down the links with the Old Trafford club, but it is seen merely as a ploy to suggest that Bale doesn’t want to push a for a move away from Bernabeu.
The reality is, Bale has struggled to fully adapt to the team or the city. He has struggled to build a good relationship with key Madrid players, and therefore he is more open to a move to United than ever before.
Miguel Delaney writes that Real may be reluctant to allow Bale to leave, because his signing is almost a personal project for president Florentino Perez, who dished out a record transfer fee to sign him at the first place.
Perez therefore is facing a huge dilemma here. Ronaldo is the club’s leading goal scorer and he is still playing at his peak form. Secondly he brings a great brand value for Real Madrid because of his immense popularity in every parts of the world. However, at the same time both Bale & Ronaldo are open to move, and Madrid cannot afford to sell both of them at the same time.
The biggest catch however is all the conversations that might have taken place are with Bale’s agent. This can all be a ploy to get him a better contract at Madrid, a similar tactics used by Sergio Ramos during the summer.
