According to reports in French Media outlet RMC Sport, Manchester United will be pushing hard to sign PSG defender Marquinhos in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Red Devils are in dire need of a centre back and it now appears that the Old Trafford hierarchy are reportedly interested to bring the young Brazilian international at Old Trafford.

The Daily Express claim that Marquinhos won’t come cheap and a £30m deal is mooted after PSG paid £27m to Roma for his services in 2013. The Parisian club are well aware of United’s interest and are looking to give the player a contract extension to keep United at bay. The recent developments come despite Marquinhos’ agent Giuliano Bertolucci who claimed that his client has attracted interest from the Premier League giants.

Speaking to RMC he said, (as relayed by Goal) “Last summer the president of PSG [Nasser Al-Khelaifi] stated that Marquinhos was unsellable; we will see what he thinks next June. So many [clubs] want him, including Manchester United. What is certain is that Marquinhos wants to become the best defender in the world.”

“He is still not at the level of Thiago Silva and David Luiz, so for this reason he respects the choices of the coach. But he doesn’t want to spend much more time on the bench. If necessary, he can play also as a full-back or a wide midfielder.”
