It seems as if reports from Argentine Media Outlet Ovacion have claimed that Manchester United are preparing a €30m bid for Benfica midfielder Enzo Perez. We had been covering United’s interest in the World Cup star over the summer and earlier this week had reported that Louis Van Gaal is interested to bring the 28 year old to Old Trafford in the upcoming winter transfer window.
The report clearly hints that Perez might be the third member of the Argentine contingent at the Red Devils following in the footsteps of Angel Di Maria and Marcos Rojo who switched loyalties for United in the summer. It is believed that United had also sent scouts to watch the player last week as Benfica took on French side Monaco in the group stages of a Champions League encounter at the Estadio Luz.
Spanish outfit Valencia are also interested in Perez and have also lined up an offer to the Portuguese side who demand a figure of €30m for their prized asset. However, United’s interest might entice the player to feature in the Premier League, an offer which would be hard to turn down.
So will Van Gaal pay the €30m release clause for the Argentine in January? Only time shall provide an apt answer.
