Manchester United and Arsenal could go head-to-head for Barcelona forward Pedro Rodriguez in the summer, as both Louis van Gaal and Arsene Wenger see him as the perfect purchase.

Last month, Spanish media RAC 1 reported that Pedro has had several significant offers from Premier League clubs, and might consider them should he find himself being not an integral part of Barcelona’s system under new-manager Luis Enrique.

The report suggested that Pedro, who has a contract till 2016 and available for around €25m, is interested in moving to the Premier League, with the Spaniard claiming during the World Cup that he is unsure about his future at Barcelona.

According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, both Arsenal and Manchester United remain firmly in the hunt for Pedro. Liverpool are also thought to be interested in the 26-year-old, but it seems the Reds have shifted their attention to his club-team mate Alexis Sanchez instead.

Both Arsenal and Manchester United will be looking to revamp their attacking options in the summer. Although Arsenal mainly need a striker, United could address their attacking problems by bringing in big name players. Mundo reckons that under no uncertain terms Barcelona would hundred percent accept bids for Pedro.

But is he the player United need at the moment? Pedro is not a striker, nor a classic winger, rather plays as an advanced forward. United have an avalanche of attacking players like Shinji Kagawa, Juan Mata and Adnan Janujaz, so will it be wise to make a move for him?

Plus, there is a question of adaptability as well. While I don’t doubt his ability but can he adapt quickly to the physical demands of the Premier League? It will be interesting to see, how things shape up from here on.
