Manchester United’s 0-0 draw away to Arsenal has left their champions league ambitions hanging by a thread, with Liverpool’s last grasp win at Fulham taking them 12 points clear of the champions in fourth place.
In a match of few clear-cut chances, eternal rivals United and Arsenal played out an uninspired draw in London, with Robin van Persie’s second half header the best chance of the match.
The Dutchman’s goalbound header from a peach of a cross from Wayne Rooney was clawed onto the bar brilliantly by a desperate Szczęsny. Santi Cazorla could have won it late on for Arsenal, but David De Gea was equal to the Spaniard on more than one occasion.
Twitter has reacted to the tactics employed by United boss David Moyes, with Juan Mata hauled off after an ineffectual game, and RVP a relative passenger.
Moyes continuously looking to the past to justify their top 4 ambitions. needs to accept they aren’t that side anymore. #mufc

Mata should be playing Rooney’s position .. but then again.. it’s Moyes — WeAreChelseaFC (@WeAreChelseaFC) February 9, 2014
My name’s David Moyes. I will buy a creative playmaker called Juan Mata, stick him on the right wing & tell him to whip crosses into the box

The level of defiance that Moyes is showing in refusing to give up on getting into the top 4 reminds me of this guy. http://t.co/vgjPdMg6ua
