Man Utd have once more been strongly linked with a bid for German star, Marco Reus; with the Guardian reporting that the club are ready to offer Borussia Dortmund their former player, Shinji Kagawa as a sweetener in a potential deal.

The English Champions hope that the possible return of one of Dortmund’s favourite sons will entice the German outfit into the sale of their star winger.

Kagawa, who played the full 90 minutes of Utd’s 5-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen midweek, has been in and out of David Moyes’ side since the Scot took the helm at Old Trafford.

Speculation has been rife concerning the Japanese international; and if reports are to be believed, the 24-year-old may be coming to the end of his stay in England.

Reus has a €35m release clause in his Dortmund contract; but Moyes intentions seem clear after ESPN reported that he dispatched coach Jimmy Lumsden and assistant Steve Round to watch the 24-year-old in Dortmund’s recent 3-1 Champions League win over Napoli.

Earlier this month, we reported that his release clause only becomes active after 2015; and as per reports from German newspaper Bild, Dortmund are looking to offer the German a salary boost from €4.5m/year to €6m/year to ensure Reus remains happy at the Westfalenstadion.

Indeed, our reporting of the Reus-Kagawa deal seems to have been accurate, with major English newspapers now running with the story.

The 24-year-old Reus was pivotal to Dortmund’s spectacular run to the Champions league final last year, and has had a scintillating start to this year’s campaign, bagging 9 goals in 17 games so far this season.
