Manchester United were reportedly closing in on the signings of Jose Mourinho and Benfica midfielder Renato Sanches.

Now reports are claiming that a deal has been struck for both targets and they are heading to Old Trafford this summer.

The former Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho is expected to take over from Louis Van Gaal at the end of this season. Van Gaal has failed to challenge for the Premier League title despite spending huge sums of money since taking over after David Moyes.

Mourinho will be expected to take Manchester United back to the top of English football once again.

The Portuguese manager won the Premier League title with Chelsea last season and was sacked because of a poor start to this season.renato

Meanwhile, Benfica midfielder Renato Sanches has been linked with a move to Old Trafford since last summer and it appears that the tricky attacking midfielder will indeed play for the Red Devils next season.

The report from Express do not mention a fee for Sanches, but they do quote a Portuguese source claiming that the deals are now done after weeks of speculation.

The player has been likened to Ronaldinho because of his flair and style of play.

Previously it was reported that Benfica value him at £47 million.
Angel Di Maria transfer

Elsewhere, former Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria and Louis Van Gaal are hitting out at each other.

Di Maria joined Manchester United from Real Madrid last season and failed to settle in at Old Trafford. The Argentine winger was sold to PSG last summer and has been in outstanding form since then.

The former Real Madrid winger has now revealed that the reason he failed to succeed at Old Trafford was due to his constant change of roles by the manager.

He said: “I don’t think it was my fault or the fault of my team-mates. Every time I was given the opportunity, I did all I could but it didn’t work out as I hoped.”

“So I decided to leave, not only to be happy but to win things. I started a game in one position then the next game in another. I scored goals playing in one position, then suddenly the next game I was picked to play in a different position.”

Following Di Maria’s comments, Louis Van Gaal chose not to hold back. The Dutchman went on to criticise the winger and claimed that he should look at himself instead of blaming the manager.

He said: “I have never seen [many] players who look at themselves, who look to the way they have performed. It is always the fault of the manager. So he is one of the players who are in a row of players who have no self-criticism. Unfortunately it is my life as a manager. It is always like that.”

LukeShaw

Finally, there is some good news for the Manchester United fans as left Luke Shaw seems set to resume his training from next week.

The England full-back suffered a fracture against PSV in the Champions League earlier this season and missed several months of football.

Shaw will now step up his recovery before the Euros. Van Gaal confirmed the news and also claimed that it might be difficult for the left back to feature in the FA Cup final if United manage to qualify.

He said: “Luke Shaw will start his first training sessions on the pitch next week. He has always been in the pool, in the gym and on the treadmill but now he can train with his team-mates on the pitch.”

“But Luke knows it will be very difficult to play if we were to reach the FA Cup final.”
