Louis Van Gaal has hit out at the Manchester United winger Adnan Januzaj for not listening to him with regards to the Belgian’s loan move.
Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal advised the young winger to stay in the Premier League and play for a lesser side where he can play regularly.
Januzaj decided to ignore his manager’s suggestions and decided to join Borussia Dortmund instead.
The German giants are stocked with international stars and have struggled to accommodate the on loan Manchester United winger this season.
Januzaj is a massive fan favorite at Old Trafford and the Manchester United fans have a lot of expectations from the dynamic winger.
Van Gaal has now claimed that Januzaj has the talent but he needs to learn a lot more in order to break into the Manchester United starting lineup and that the Belgian made a big mistake by not taking his advice.
“At a club like Borussia Dortmund, all the players are also of a certain level,” the Dutchman told reporters.
“I said in advance that’s a big risk, because you have to compete with other players of a higher level and that’s not so easy.
“It’s the same as at Manchester United. He has to compete with higher-level players. I want him to play all the matches, and that’s why I wanted to play him in the Premier League, but he chose Borussia Dortmund.
“We have to wait and see [if it’s a good move] because now he doesn’t play. I am certain he has the talent to play, but he has to learn a lot of things.
“Talent is important, but so is the character to develop your talent. And he can learn that.”
Januzaj has been a squad player at Dortmund and has struggled to break into the first team scene at the Signal Iduna Park.
Van Gaal’s suggestion that Januzaj should join a lesser club makes perfect sense. At this age the only thing Januzaj should be worried about his regular first team football.
The stature of the club he plays for is irrelevant as far as his development is concerned.
Looking back at it, the Manchester United youngster probably regrets not listening to his manager.
