Liverpool are reportedly hunting Roma midfielder Adem Ljajic, who was once ‘signed’ by Manchester United, with the Serbian currently struggling with life in the Italian capital.

According to Italian site ‘Il Tempo’, Ljajic is edging towards a summer exit, with Roma boss Rudi Garcia using the attacker sparingly since his move in August last year, and Liverpool are said to be lining up a €10m move.

Bought to offset the loss of Erik Lamela to Tottenham, Adem Ljajic has been in and out of the starting lineup this season, with the likes of Michel Bastos and former Arsenal man Gervinho currently favoured ahead of the 22-year-old.

There are rumours that the Serbian is unhappy at the current state of affairs, and may look for an exit come the end of the season, with Liverpool said to be watching proceedings from afar.

Ljajic has hit the headlines over the years for bizarre reasons.

When at Partizan Belgrade, the attacker actually signed for Manchester United back in 2009, only for the Red Devils to pull out of the deal soon after, with work permit issues apparently scuppering the deal.

Following a move to Fiorentina, Ljajic was attacked by former manager Delio Rossi after sarcastically applauding his substitution during a match against Novara in 2012.

Brendan Rodgers has assembled a Liverpool side capable of challenging at the very top level, and their formidable attack in particular has been praised from all corners. However, it has been said that Liverpool are still in need of further attacking midfield options, with Raheem Sterling still a youngster, and Coutinho a little hit and miss this season.

With five goals and three assists from just 12 starts, Ljajic is adept at set-pieces, has a wonderful passing range, and an eye for goal. The Serbian can also operate from anywhere along an attacking midfield three, which would certainly suit Liverpool.

At €10m, Ljajic could well be a bargain, that is if Rodgers can get the best out of him.

What do you think? Should Liverpool take a gamble of Ljajic? Let me know in the comments below…
