Glen Johnson’s future at Liverpool has come under intense speculations over the past couple of months. The right back’s contract with the Reds expires in the summer and there have been no talks over a possible extension. Italian side Roma have been keeping tabs on Johnson and could possibly bring the 30 year old on a free in the summer.

In fact Johnson would also want a new experience away from Merseyside but Roma manager Rudi Garcia might not be convinced with the England International’s stuttering form this season. Moreover, Johnson’s wages could also be a stumbling block for the Giallorossi.

According to today’s report from the reliable Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, that despite no talks of a contract extension, Liverpool are not panicking. But it is that time of the season where both the clubs might enter into regular talks with  a possible transfer.

Roma would thus no doubt want to bring Johnson on a free but Liverpool too would want themselves to be on the better end of a possible deal. David Wright of the Daily Express mentioned that the Reds are looking to bring Real Madrid outcast Alvaro Arbeloa to replace Johnson.

In other news, The Express also claims that Liverpool are boosted in their chase for Paris Saint Germain forward Ezequiel Lavezzi. The reports states that the Argentine international could finally arrive at Anfield for just £8m as the Parisins are looking to offload the 29-year-old in January.

Lavezzi’s wages could be a potential stumbling block for the Reds but Larent Blanc’s side desperately want to improve their Financial Fair Play situation by reducing their wage bill. Lavezzi currently earns a significant salary of £3.5m per season.

However reliable French journalist Jonathan Johnson claims Lavezzi is closing in on a loan move to Valencia with an option to buy in the summer. PSG have also earmarked a replacement for Lavezzi tracking Benfica’s Nicolas Gaitan.

Reputed journalist Adam Daigby had previously cited Gazzeta Dello Sport claiming PSG will demand a €15 million fee if Ezequiel Lavezzi is to leave the club in January
