For the past few months Italian press have been reporting Liverpool’s interest in Inter Milan midfielder Mateo Kovacic. The highly rated Croatian midfielder is one of Liverpool’s top priority signing, with manager Brendan Rodgers looking to find a long term replacement of Steven Gerrard, who left the club to join MLS.

Earlier this week, reports emerged in the Italian media that Liverpool had lodged a bid in the region of €21m – €23m bid for the 21-year-old, but that was still some way short of Inter’s valuation.

The Serie A giants themselves are looking to be active in the summer transfer window and the Nerazzurri could be looking to sell the midfielder at a higher price allowing Roberto Mancini to rebuild the squad again.

Tuttosport claim today that Liverpool are ready to offer €30m for Kovacic (read as meeting Inter’s valuation) and Inter would be happy to accept the bid.

Inter have reached a deal for Atletico Madrid’s Miranda and are still looking for another center back. They are also in the hunt for Chelsea’s Mohamed Salah, whose future looks uncertain at the moment.

The Turin newspaper speculates that if Liverpool’s offer comes through Inter would sell Kovacic and the club will be going for Marseille’s €20m star Imbula as replacement.
