For the third qualifying round of the Europa League, Roy Hodgson’s Liverpool are in Macedonia to play Rabotnicki Skopje. Left behind in England are some of the starters like Steven Gerrad, Jamie Carragher, Glen Johnson and Joe Cole. But defensive trio Martin Skrtel, Daniel Agger and Sotirios Kyrgiakos were among the squad.
The Reds boss has given more recovery time to Gerrard and Cole along with their England team-mates Carragher and Johnson, who have all been back in pre-season training for a week.

The Merseyside club is desperate to ensure qualification for the group stages of the Europe’s second tier competition because failing to do so will just add to the pain of the previous season while their league rivals fight their way through the Champions League.
Hodgson has selected a more experienced side than he originally planned. Still youngsters such as Jonjo Shelvey, Nathan Eccleston, Martin Hansen, Peter Gulacsi, David Amoo, Lauri Dalla Valle and Tom Ince have also been included in the 20-man squad.
Midfielder Alberto Aquilani’s knee is expected to be fit after he missed Saturday’s 1-0 defeat by Kaiserslautern due to it. whereas the two Argentines in the squad, Javier Mascherano and Maxi Rodriguez, have returned to pre-season training after their post-World Cup holidays but they will not be travelling to Macedonia.
World Cup “hero” Fernando Torres is missing with a groin injury and Dutchman Dirk Kuyt is also not with the squad.
