Ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League tie with Manchester City on Wednesday night, Jurgen Klopp says that the title race holds no interest for the Reds.

Liverpool matched City over 120 minutes in the League Cup final on Wednesday, but they were punished in a penalty shoot out. The two clubs meet again two days later, and the home side can take a revenge by denting fourth-placed City’s chances of a second league title in three years.

Klopp, however is not paying too much attention for the Championship title race, and says that he is only thinking about Liverpool’s upcoming game with City.

It will be interesting to see how City approach this game. Can they translate the feeling of success in the League Cup to their title challenge in the league? The Citizens can hardly afford to drop points, as rivals Manchester United, who are only three points behind them in fifth, can catch them up.

Liverpool vs Manchester City: Team News

klopp revealed in the press conference that Lucas Leiva, Daniel Sturridge and Mamadou Sakho could all miss out through injuries. Sakho was withdrawn through the first half with a head injury, after he collided with Emre Can, while both Lucas and Sturridge suffered problems towards the end of the game on Sunday.

The Reds manager could recall the likes of Dejan Lovren, Martin Skrtel, and Joe Allen, all have returned to full fledged training.

Lovren likely to take Sakho’s place, while Allen may anchor the midfield, should Lucas fail to recover.

Pellegrini make some changes too from the side that won on Sunday. Joe Hart will return between the sticks, while Aleksandar Kolarov could replace Gael Clichy in the starting XI.
