Barcelona want Valencia skipper Paco Alcacer to be their fourth striker, and the Catalan giants are hoping to secure a deal for the Spaniard before the end of the transfer window.

Alcacer has a reported 80m release clause (per Marca), but Barcelona are hoping to sign him on a cut-price deal, thought to be around 30m.

According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are in advanced negotiation with Los Che to sign the 22-year-old striker.

Valencia are playing a hardball so far in the negotiation despite the good relationship shared by the two clubs.

Peter Lim, the Valencia owner, shares a good relationship with Josep Maria Bartomeu, the president of Barcelona FC, as evidenced by the recent signings: Barca signed Andre Gomes while Martin Montoya moved the other way.

Barcelona are keen to add a 9 to their ranks before the start of the new season. The Blaugrana were linked with a move for Luciano Vietto and Kevin Gameiro this summer but were unsuccessful in their attempt to sign them.

Vietto joined Sevilla to work under his compatriot Jorge Sampaoli who promised the Argentine regular game time in 2016-17 while Gameiro moved to Atletico Madrid.

Alcacer is ‘crazy’ about joining Barcelona despite knowing he would be the 4th choice at the club behind Messi, Suarez and Neymar. He simply wishes to share the dressing room with the best players in the world.

Valencia have shown an initial reluctance to sell Alcacer who scored 13 goals last season in La Liga. Barcelona are trying to include a couple of players to sweeten the deal, with Munir El Haddadi and Sergi Samper could be offered.
