Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is confident about landing the Manchester United job within the next six months.

According to reports in the English media (via Daily Star), the Portuguese manager has had informal talks with Manchester United and is interested in taking the job.

Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal is under pressure after a poor run of results and could be out of a job if the results do not improve soon.

The Red Devils were on an eight-match winless streak spanning from the end of November 2015 to the end of December 2015.

However, United have seemingly turned a corner now.

Manchester United are 5th in the table and have won three of their last four matches in all competitions, including a morale-boosting win at Anfield yesterday.

Furthermore, although Van Gaal’s deal runs out in 2017, there have been talks of Ryan Giggs replacing him in the summer.

The likes of Pep Guardiola and Diego Simeone have also been linked with the Manchester United job. But it is the former Chelsea manager who is most interested in managing the Premier League giants.

Jose Mourinho is still in England after being sacked by Chelsea and is waiting to take over from Louis Van Gaal.

It will be interesting to see if Manchester United decide to get rid of the former Bayern Munich manager in the summer. Although the results have not been too bad under Van Gaal, the Dutchman’s approach has attracted a lot of criticism.

Manchester United fans have already voiced their frustrations regarding United’s boring style of play on social media.

Also, it will be interesting to see how the Manchester United fans react to the appointment of Jose Mourinho (if it happens), considering the fact that the Portuguese manager is not exactly famous for his adventurous brand of football.

However, there is no doubt that the Chelsea fans will be very disappointed if Mourinho ends up at Old Trafford. The Portuguese manager remains a huge fan favourite at Stamford Bridge.
