Real Madrid winger James Rodriguez is set to leave Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

The Colombian had a disappointing season with the European champion last year and has fallen down the pecking order after the departure of Ancelotti.

Both Rafa Benitez and Zinedine Zidane benched Rodriguez for long periods last season and he was a mere spectator in the Champions League final as well.

James Rodriguez made just 17 starts in La Liga last season and picked up 7 goals and 8 assists for Los Blancos. The Colombian had a fantastic debut season under Carlo Ancelotti and seemed destined for a glorious future at Real Madrid.

James started every game for Ancelotti in his debut season apart from the ones where he was injured or suspended. He also scored 17 goals and picked up 18 assists for the Spanish giants in 46 appearances all season.

The South American winger has decided to leave the capital club in search of regular first team football and latest reports from Yahoo Sport claim that he is in talks with the French outfit Paris Saint-Germain.

Former Sevilla manager Unai Emery will be looking to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic with a big name and Rodriguez has the profile that fits.

Reports claim that the player is in advanced talks with PSG over a move and his agent Jorge Mendes is negotiating the transfer.

Paris Saint-Germain have already signed Hatem Ben Arfa and the Polish defensive midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak. It seems that James Rodriguez could be the third high profile signing for Emery this summer.

The report also adds that PSG are in constant contact with James Rodriguez and the player has shown great interest in their project.

The fee should not be a problem for a club with PSG’s resources and Real Madrid might want to cash in on an unsettled player to fund a move for their target Paul Pogba.

James has played in Ligue 1 before with Monaco and knows the style of football inside out. He could well make an instant impact there and kick-start his stagnating career, just like Di Maria.

The player was linked with a move to Manchester United earlier this season especially because of his agent. Jorge Mendes’ connections with Jose Mourinho and Manchester United always lead to his clients being linked with a move to Old Trafford at some point in their career.
